Position Details
POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will support and perform accounting operations which include but not limited to monthly close, create journal entries, reconcile accounts, prepare financial reports and various other reports, and perform any other duties as assigned. Assist the process supervisors as needed and respond to information requests by management and for auditing purposes. This position requires foundational accounting education and experience combined with strong customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and compliance standards.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and for various funding sources.
- Perform monthly account analysis to understand and explain month-over-month changes.
- Prepare monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement account reconciliations and account analysis.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain supporting reporting and documentation.
- Provide support for capital expenditure tracking and recording of fixed assets and generating depreciation schedules.
- Assist with internal and external audits including pre-work and preparation of supporting documentation requested by the auditors.
- Provide support for Grant Reporting and Administration.
- Assist with internal control evaluations and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Responsible for providing excellent customer service by greeting, assisting, and responding to questions and/or concerns in a positive, professional, and friendly manner.
- Assist with projects or other tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with Accounting emphasis.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting.
- Non-profit accounting experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Great Plains accounting software knowledge and prior experience is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and full accounting cycle.
- High proficiency levels in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word.
