What are the responsibilities and job description for the Embalmer position at Goodwin Recruiting?
Our locally-owned and operated business is looking to hire an Embalmer for our Tulsa location to join our close-knit team. This individual needs to have a particular passion for working in the prep room with the deceased, takes great pride in the quality of their embalming and cosmetology work, and has the desire to teach the next generation of mortuary professionals.

Embalmer Responsibilities:
- Care for the deceased including (but not limited to) embalming, dressing, cosmetology, casketing
- Maintain an organized, immaculate prep room
- Teaching apprentices new skills while being open to learning yourself
- Able, when needed, to assist families in making funeral arrangements and directing funeral services
- Arrange for transport of the deceased
- Provide funeral, visitation, and graveside services
- Treat each family with the utmost respect and kindness
Embalmer Qualifications
- Hold an active Oklahoma funeral director s license (or another state s license and meet Oklahoma' s licensing requirements)
- Associate s Degree in Mortuary Science
- 1-2 years (minimum) experience as a Funeral Director/Embalmer
- Able to work evenings, weekends, holidays and be on call when needed
- Possess high emotional intelligence and have the ability and confidence to support grieving families
- Exceptionally high moral standards
- Willingness to provide services that align with our culture and the needs of our families
