Position Overview:
Gould Killian CPA Group, P.A. is seeking a manager with a history of excellent client service, communication, and technical proficiency. In addition to technical expertise, the Firm is seeking a manager with experience reviewing staff work and delegating work to staff members.
Job Duties:
Job Management:
- Take full responsibility for assigned engagements, ensuring work performed by engagement staff meets Firm quality control standards, is performed timely and within budget.
- Communicate with partners about the progress of the assigned engagements and the performance of staff
- Review and take responsibility for all directed staff accountants’ work, both in terms of accuracy and timeliness of completion
- Review the work of others not only for clerical accuracy, but also to evaluate positions taken in the treatment of items and the implications to the client
Staff Training & Development:
- Train staff through both review notes and hands-on training, when needed.
- Participate in the GK Mentor Program and recommend training and development opportunities for staff
- Assist in the evaluations of staff as requested by a partner or the Employee Success & Training Coordinator
Technical Expertise:
- Perform high-level planning functions for client work and recommend actions to be taken
- Display a high degree of technical and professional competence including keeping current on new developments and the communication of such to staff
- Develop areas of specialty and expertise
Client Service
- Represent the firm at client meetings, either with or without a partner or with outside parties, if requested (i.e. taxing authorities and banks)
- Represent the firm in meetings with prospective clients
- Maintain ongoing contact with existing clients throughout the year to determine new services to be offered
Professional Development
- Work overtime as needed throughout the year
- Take a leadership role amongst Senior Staff, join firm committees as requested and participate in firm administration
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, including in-person, phone, and written communications
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex financial data and draw reasonable conclusions
- Demonstrate professionalism, both in your appearance and bearing
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all clients and the firm business
- Follow firm procedures and comply with firm policies as outlined in the employee manual
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field required, Master’s degree encouraged
- Active CPA license
- At least 5 years’ experience in public accounting or a related field, with at least 2 years of experience supervising staff and reviewing their work
