Staff Writer - Intern

Overview

GovCIO Media & Research is seeking a staff writer intern supporting the editorial team covering federal technology. The candidate would gain experience writing for a B2B publication across a wide variety of platforms, including web, videos, podcasts, live and virtual events, and social media. *This position will be located in the DC, MD and VA area*.

Responsibilities

• • Write news articles about federal IT programs, developments, issues and people.
• • Support the media production and news-gathering process, including • booking interviews, writing questions and descriptions, and acquiring speakers.
• • Attend, cover and network at industry events and panels.
• • Gather, analyze and report on information about federal contract opportunities or business trends, and use this information to inform editorial work.
• • Work with other departments on editorial work, including events, design and marketing.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

• Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Completed coursework or pursuing a degree in the area(s) related to the internship.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
