Overview:
The Club Controller leads the financial management of Governors Towne Club and conducts detailed financial analyses of operations, generating monthly statements and reports to guide management decisions. The Club Controller oversees company accounting practices, ensures the upkeep of fiscal records, and is tasked with preparing all year-end closeout and license renewal documents.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Analysis:
- Develop, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information for evaluating operating results.
- Assess profitability, performance, and other factors influencing fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness.
- Accounts Receivable and Collections:
- Establish and monitor accounts receivable and collections procedures.
- Accounting Practices:
- Maintain the company's system of accounts and keep records of all transactions and assets.
- Personnel Management:
- Delegate and supervise personnel to enhance accounting processes, employee productivity, and company profit.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly financial reports outlining the company's financial position in income, expenses, earnings, and cash flow.
- Inventory Controls and Purchasing:
- Oversee inventory controls and reporting, purchasing procedures, and petty cash.
- Tax Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state taxes.
- Internal Controls:
- Establish and monitor effective financial and internal controls for the organization.
- Journal Entries and Schedules:
- Prepare monthly journal entries and schedules, including bank reconciliation, inventory adjustments, and other necessary entries.
- Banking and Investments:
- Coordinate banking activities, debt servicing, cash transfers, and investment of idle cash funds.
- Audits and Compliance:
- Coordinate annual workers compensation audit and other governmental compliance or tax audits.
- Work with external auditors and tax preparers for year-end audits and tax returns.
- Payroll and Reporting:
- Supervise the payroll process and review quarterly payroll tax returns.
- Provide weekly sales reporting to management.
- Financial Forecasting:
- Forecast and track financial results throughout the year to meet budget projections.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred.
- 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance with progressively expanding leadership roles.
- Experience with Jonas Accounting Software.
- Previous experience in the Hospitality industry.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong leadership skills.
