Business Unit Controller
Job Purpose:
Reporting to the CEO, the Controller will wear many hats in this growing organization and play an important leadership role in developing and maintaining the best financial accounting and reporting processes practices. This hands-on Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day financial activities of the Company while driving continuous process improvement and standardization within the finance organization. This role will span across accounting/reporting, FP&A and systems and require an adept individual who can multi-task and learn on the fly as the organization grows.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting functions.

Assist in cash management and coordination of tax filings and other activities.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accurate and timely results in accordance with US GAAP.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.

Lead and actively participate in the annual financial and 401k audits.

Work closely with CEO and accounting team to drive process standardization across the business, including eliminating inefficient processes and procedures and continuously striving for process improvement.

Lead automation of financial reporting through implementation of software solution

Preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.

Assist in other corporate activities, including insurance and benefits

Manages the accounting staff and oversees the tasks they are responsible for, including but not limited to accounts receivable/ payable, daily cash reconciliation, booking expenses, and other special projects to ensure timely and accurate completion.

Ad hoc projects and requests as necessary.
Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business.

MBA or CPA a plus.

12 years of experience, 3 years in a Controller role.

Experience in manufacturing and/or distribution.

Experience with General Ledger software and strong Excel skills.

Hands-on, results-driven self-starter.

Ability to work in a fast-paced and fast-growing environment and collaborate effectively as a team member.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

A positive attitude with the ability to multi-task.
