A private company that is a fabricator of quality steel structures for t he electric utility industry . We are searching for a Corporate Director of Engineering with strong technical skills to provide design and analysis of steel tubular pole structures for the Electrical Utility Industry .
The Corporate Director of Engineering will work out of the Corporate Office.
JOB SUMMARY
This position has responsibility for all Engineering activities throughout the company. The position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the organization's Engineering resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating the design of steel tubular pole structures for electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution as well as employee engagement.
EXPERIENCE -
- Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil / Structural Engineering , with emphasis on steel structures, from a university program that is ABET accredited.
- 5 years’ of working knowledge and experience with national codes, such as, ASCE-48, -113, -7, and customer specific codes related to utility steel pole structures.
- 5 years’ of progressive related work experience in the structural design of the electric utility transmission, substation, and distribution steel pole structures using PLS-POLE software.
- Experience in AutoCAD is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is required.
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing staff of at least two (2) direct reports
QUALIFICATIONS -
- Polished dynamic professional with superior verbal, written and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with applicable laws / regulations and management theories.
- Effective supervisory skills
- Multi-site responsibility is preferred.
- Confidence and poise needed to effectively interface with corporate daily.
- Possess the ability to deal effectively with all levels of personnel at the plant level.
- MS Office Suite applications, to include Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability and experience to conduct design and analysis of steel tubular pole structures using PLS-Pole software.
- Ability and experience to read customers’ drawings, specifications, provide information for the development and review of fabrication drawings.
- Ability and experience to interact and provide material requirements, technical information, and specifications to other internal departments.
- Knowledge of steel tubular pole structures shop operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES -
- Structural design of steel tubular pole structures and their components.
- Review and assist in all aspects of engineering related steel design, detailing and fabrication.
- Coordinating structural steel engineering activities with other internal departments and external business partners.
- Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff relating to Engineering initiatives and projects.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and establishing personal networks.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Any other duties that may be assigned
