Position: Project Manager/ Landscape Architect – Parks and Recreation

Growing firm is looking for a qualified Landscape Architect with Project Management experience to join their growing team! The firm offers and thrives on a collaborative environment working on Parks and Recreation projects from idea to full fruition.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS

*Must have experience with Parks and Recreation Master Plans for municipalities

 5-8 years of experience for Parks and Recreation Master Plan/General Landscape Architecture

 

Master Plan Document Preparation

- Experience using InDesign for desktop publishing and page layout


  • Text and graphic organization

Major Skills Needed

-          Detail-oriented

-          Strong writing skills

-          Comfortable with developing planning document graphics

-          Public speaking

-          Task delegation

PROJECT MANAGER LANDSCAPE DESIGN

General requirements:


  • Manage the design, documentation, and budget of a project through all phases of the design process
  • Technical design, technical review, QA/QC
  • Interfacing with operational firm needs
  • Project presentations
  • Assisting with and overseeing the preparation of presentation graphics and materials
  • Research and development of planting palettes and landscape materials.
  • Preparing plan, section, and perspective renderings, as well as other presentation materials
  • Research and development of planting palettes
  • Support of principal development of design concepts
  • Project-specific administrative tasks as assigned
  • Assisting other teams as required
  • Shared leadership role with the managing principals
  • Assist with the preparation of proposals
  • Landscape Architectural License

Knowledge of:

AutoCAD, Sketchup, Lumion, Adobe Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word), Bluebeam

Education


  • Master in Urban Planning, City and Regional Planning, or equivalent
  • B/MLA from an accredited Landscape Architecture program

Community Outreach Experience

-Experience in preparing for, and hosting, community meetings – online and in person


  • Create meeting agenda(s)
  • Create graphic presentation(s)
  • Lead community input/engagement exercises – community note taking, prioritizing exercises, etc.

-Experience in survey/questionnaire development and implementation


  • Survey development – working with clients to ask the ‘right’ questions for specific master planning intentions
  • Survey implementation – capable of using applications, such as SurveyMonkey or equal, to run survey(s) for master planning
  • Assessment of survey results – ability to review and summarize collected community input

-Experience leading small-group discussions for specific community input


  • Organizing and leading Steering Committee meetings
  • Organizing and leading Stakeholder group meetings

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

- Manage client and subconsultants for project delivery


  • For Parks and Recreation Master Plans, the typical team includes:

    • Client – City/public agency
    • Consultant – Project Manager
    • Subconsultants – recreation and operation planner, public financing planner, architect, ADA access specialist

  • Understand scope of subconsultant work and relationship to project manager scope of services
  • Succinctly incorporate subconsultant work into overall Master Plan
  • Prepare schedule and updated as needed
