Where You’ll Work – Contractor Equipment Division (CED)
The Contractor Equipment Division makes sprayers that apply paint to walls and other structures, with product models for users ranging from do-it-yourself homeowners to professional paint contractors. Contractor equipment also includes sprayers that apply texture to walls and ceilings, highly viscous coatings to roofs, and line markings on roads, parking lots, athletic fields and floors.
The future of CED is bright, with significant investments being made across the business; the division is expanding to accommodate increased demand and growth driven by an investment in new products and innovative ideas. With the global industry ramping up into high gear, CED is positioned to convert contractors accustomed to manually applying paint and other coatings by brush-and-roller to spray technology.

While improving manufacturing operations, communicating with a variety of teams, and having the opportunity to perform capital equipment justification. What You Will Do At Graco
- Plan, execute and report priorities
- Assist the direction of estimation of production times and perform time studies to determine labor and machine capacity requirements/restrictions.
- React to changing priorities for purposes of scheduling, delivery, project timeline, budget, and scope.
- Review quality issue trends to understand chronic issues and determine corrective and preventative actions.
- Update process control plans, pFMEA’s, flow diagrams, capability studies, and similar documentation in accordance with Graco’s established guidelines
- Strictly adhere to safety standards and improve the overall effectiveness of current safety program by identifying and eliminating potential safety hazards or conditions that exist.
- Oversee and/or conduct manufacturing process evaluation, including designed experiments, for the purpose of evaluating continuous improvement opportunities.
- Assure consistent product and process quality by assigning test methods and establishing standards to confirm process results.
- Provide general production support for machining and/or assembly area as needed
- Evaluate upgrades for machining or assembly.
- Troubleshoot issues (quality, efficiency, etc.) on assembly line or machine.
- Communication liaison between engineering, production, marketing, purchasing, etc., and cell leader
- Provide advice on technical questions for situations pertaining to DFM, pFMEA, process standards, and best manufacturing practices with teams in and outside of manufacturing.
- Improve quality by being leader on problem solving teams to determine root cause analysis using DMAIC/A3 problem solving and corrective/preventative action methodologies.
- Determine the proper processes
- Evaluate current production efficiency to find variances in standard work, processes, procedures, and waste in manufacturing layout.
- Identify the proper machines, tooling, fixturing, etc., to maximize productivity and quality for all manufacturing operations.
- Manage annual capital projects and review plans for timing of justification and implementation of equipment as well as the design and construction.
- Work collaboratively with design, marketing, purchasing, and other key groups during product development to guide design for manufacturability with current and potential manufacturing capability.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent
- 3 years manufacturing experience or demonstrated qualification in technical field
- Ability to produce innovative and successful processes to meet project schedules and cost targets
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously
- Experience troubleshooting moderately complex manufacturing processes or products
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Knowledge of one or more NC programming languages (for machining engineers)
