About The Role
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Buyer is accountable for providing effective operational procurement work to deliver supply chain solutions to the business, including bid-winning and project delivery teams. The incumbent improves performance and reduces cost and business risk, delivers a better value supply chain by embedding category strategies into the projects, and focuses on the needs of internal and external customers. This role supports supply chain management by handling the supply of goods and services across business units.
As A Buyer At Graham, you will:
- Supports the Supply Chain Manager to deliver objectives and initiatives
- Handles supply chain management activity within business units
- Supports the supply chain solution for bid-winning in business units
- Participates in strategic projects as necessary
- Ensures that the supply chain is safe, sustainable, and appropriately accredited
- Achieves targets set by the Supply Chain Manager
- Supports operational procurement needs at the site level
- Supports the compilation of the project procurement strategy and schedule
- Monitors supply chain delivery against procurement schedule
- Complies with all Corporate Supply Chain processes and procedures
- Gathers data and provide accurate and concise summaries as required
- Prepares and present reports as required and achieve targets set by team
- Creates and install corrective action plans as required
- Conducts regular management reporting, financial status, forecasting, and budgeting
- Supports the project and / or business cash management strategy
- Identifies ways to reduce cost and improve service
- Carries out quotation analysis and evaluation of tenders
- Places low value orders at least end cost
- Works closely with stakeholders and category managers to understand customer requirements and implement the most appropriate supply chain and category solutions
- Prepares and issue enquiries for subcontractors and materials
- Conducts low value risk negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
- Resolves problems between suppliers and Graham and expedite quotes and deliveries
- Liaises with stores, site teams, and suppliers
- Demonstrates EHS and Quality behaviors that reflect corporate expectations
- Demonstrates business professionalism that is in line with Graham’s core values of commitment, integrity, and reliability
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward building relationships with customers, suppliers, and team members
- Demonstrates willingness to problem-solve complex issues as they arise and find effective solutions that work to the benefits of all stakeholders involved
- Demonstrates an understanding the market that Supply Chain works within to ensure beneficial decisions are made on behalf of the company
- Maintains good relationships with customers, clients, and suppliers
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or another technical field
- Pursuit of SMCA / CIPS qualification is an asset
- 2-3 years of experience
- Ability to listen to client concerns and provide requisite solutions
- Proficiency in procurement processes
- Strong relationship management skills
- Relevant product and subcontract market knowledge
- Knowledge of tender and contract procurement practices and processes
- Strong analytical skills and high competency with supplier selection and evaluation
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to operate under pressure and meet tight and demanding deadlines
- Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Office
