Position Vacancy for 2022-2023 School Year
Full-time Coordinator position available at the SAIL (Social and Academic Intervention Learning) Center.
Education: Bachelors’ degree in Teaching, Counseling, Social Work or other related human service professional licensure. Master’s degree preferred.
Job Goal: The SAIL (Social and Academic Intervention Learning) center is designed to serve as a transitional, short-term off campus learning center where students can develop social, emotional, academic, or behavioral skills and strategies to enhance personal success at school. SAIL personnel will provide resources and facilitate activities that promote social skills, pro-social problem solving, peer and adult connection, and individual capacity in a variety of social-emotional and academic competencies while dually supporting students in their academic coursework. SAIL personnel will establish positive, trusting, supporting relationships as a foundation to effectively serving students and their families.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lead SAIL staff in establishing a working culture built around trusting, collaborative, professional relationships amongst students, staff, and families.
- Collaborate with school campus teaching, counseling, and administrative staff to identify individual student goals, enhance student learning, and create transition plans and timelines between the SAIL Center and campus.
- Manage progress, attendance, and goal tracking mechanisms for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with district staff to identify professional development, systems development, or other SAIL Center staff or operational needs.
- Collaborate with campus officials around specialized services and behavioral interventions as needs arise.
- Provide direct practice lessons that foster individual student social and emotional competence, problem solving, and positive academic self-advocacy skills.
- Support students in their daily academic coursework or online coursework to help ensure progress is made toward credit acquisition.
- Provide strengths-based feedback and student behavioral coaching to build student efficacy.
- Demonstrate cultural competency and trauma informed practices in daily interactions.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy work and learning culture at the SAIL Center.
- Collaborate with community partners to enhance support and opportunities for students.
- Communicate student progress regularly to families and school campus designees.
- Maintain student confidentiality and the highest ethical standards.
- Participate in district training and initiatives as appropriate.
- Leadership and direct student support duties each attended to approximately 50% of the work day.
- Extended week contract provided to allow time for planning and managerial duties to occur before and after the academic year.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. Ability to manage emotions and provide emotional support during stressful circumstances.
Terms of Employment: Depending on Qualifications.
Certified – 188 Day Contract ($42,977 - $60,019/yr) or
Classified – Cat 18, Step 0 ($27.91/hour) - 10 months (mid - August to mid - June)
Evaluation:
Certified – By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December
15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).
Classified – Annual written evaluation by the Supervisor.
External applicants are allowed to bring in up to 11 years of teaching experience.
Certified - The New Teacher Workshop for all teachers new to the Grand Forks Public Schools will be held mid-August.
