What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retail Director position at Granite State Hospitality?
The Retail Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the store, including scheduling, training and supervising employees. The Retail Director is responsible for understanding the store’s profits and all controllable expenses, including labor, inventory levels, and cash and inventory shortages.
Position Responsibilities:
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training of individuals to become members of the stores staff, ensuring excellent customer service skills while maintaining a balanced cash drawer.
- Motivate, encourage and challenge store manager and assistant managers to provide new ideas and concepts for the stores.
- Promote and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
- Enforce daily operating procedures with the store managers to ensure stores are clean, adequately stocked, and well kept at all times.
- Ensure all merchandise is stocked and displays are attractive, priced correctly, and displayed safely, for maximum profitability.
- Maintain quality brand image standards.
- Supervise and discipline all store managers according to company policy.
- Ensure the store managers are changing gas prices as requested.
- Ensure that the store managers are completing the daily paperwork and it is complete and accurate and properly recorded.
- Monitor cash over/short, inventory shrinkage, and drive offs daily.
- Ensure communications with staff by way of a log book and/or meetings as needed.
- Have the physical abilities to perform all duties of a store cashier regularly.
- Follow and enforce all company policies and established procedures in store operations.
- Enforce all vendor policies and procedures.
- Enforce all safety and security issues and report any and all unsafe conditions.
- Report all employee and/or customer incidents and accidents following company procedures.
- Meet quarterly with vendors to assure proper stocking, filling customers special requests and continue general communication.
- Oversee all inventories on a quarterly basis with the store manager.
- Assist in performance evaluations/reviews and recommend staff for rate of pay increases. Execute all store manager yearly reviews.
- Maintain an Underground Storage Tank Operator A/B license as required by the State and designate a staff member to maintain Operator C.
Required Skills / Abilities:
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
- Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines
- Must be able to work nights and weekends
- Maintain all relevant certification, including but not limited to ServSafe
Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED. Business degree or relevant experience preferred.
- Five years management experience within a retail operation.
Salary : $46,700 - $59,200
