General Description
The Program Coordinator will work with employers and high schools across the city to develop internships and connect high school students with internships and work readiness programming. S/he will also be responsible for working closely with the high schools to develop and implement work-based learning activities, and support school staff in improving and enhancing employer engagement. To be successful in this role, you will be skilled at communicating across a variety of stakeholders and will have experience working with internship programs that bridge educational and corporate environments.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct outreach to targeted high schools driving the application and enrollment process. Lead student recruitment providing interns with interview experience, resume building, and work readiness training.
  • Set and maintain high program expectations, ensuring all students adhere to program policies and behavioral standards
  • Coordinate work based learning activities with DOE and program stakeholders by putting on career days, holding employer tours, and conducting mock interview and career preparatory workshops for CTE students.
  • Create and foster an environment that encourages student-friendly, goal-oriented services that result in academic and career success for all students.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary leadership team to ensure the integration of all programs components.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor students throughout the internship, as needed.
  • Travel throughout the five boroughs to coordinate and deliver support services to CTE Schools.
  • Develop and facilitate employer engagement programming such as student trips.
  • Build and manage relationships with local employers and industry partners.
  • Work with the Deputy Director to identify areas for business development and employer engagement
  • Track and maintain records of student enrollment, completion, placement, and collect and track required documentation from participating businesses.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of programs to ensure program objectives are met.
  • Attend all relevant meetings, training, workshops, outside events and agency-wide activities.
Work and Education Requirements
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with youth a plus.
  • Experience engaging and reporting to multiple stakeholders, and working as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop working partnerships with various education, business and industry stakeholders.
  • Ability to achieve goals with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to lead group presentations.
  • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint knowledge.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and work within a results-oriented environment.
  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, initiative, commitment, and a sense of humor are a must!
