This position is designed to provide drafting support to Menomonee Falls Engineering Department in its mission of providing value added engineering and project management services. The Engineering Technician I will provide support for application and implementation of CAD tools for engineering and design. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in CAD software, GD&T, and Design for Manufacturability. The candidate must be a critical thinker and a problem solver with great attention to detail. Since end user support and teamwork are important aspects of the role, excellent communication and people skills are required.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Abilities to generate detailed CAD drawings for the Americas Converting Foodservice division for new equipment design and equipment upgrades.
- Have abilities to follow up hand sketches, verbal description of design changes (ECN's) and implement them into functional part and assembly models.
- Have proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software.
- Apply principles of "Design for Manufacturability" to optimize the detail drawings for ease of manufacturing.
- Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Learn the Menomonee Falls CAD filing and drafting standards and provide Engineering with SolidWorks and AutoCAD drawings as requested for FSB projects.
- Assemble and distribute drawing books for new equipment and equipment upgrades.
- Deliver results within the prescribed development timeline and engineering budgets.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to work with teams for drawing creation and detailing.
- Integrate CAD documents from newly acquired production facilities.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Develop detailed mechanical drawings for high-speed converting equipment.
- 3 years design experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Have a strong working knowledge of SolidWorks, PDM (Vault), and AutoCAD software.
- Experience preparing drawings to engineering specifications.
- Experience with mechanical assembly and inspection.
- Work experience with large assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Experience with GD&T.
- Familiarity with materials, heat treating, coatings, and surface finishes.
- Possess a high degree of attention to detail, organizational, debug, and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly and concisely.
- Self-motivated, quick learner, results oriented with a clear focus on quality work output.
- Understanding of engineering and design processes are necessary.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE:
- Associates or bachelor's degree preferred but not required; or equivalent experience in engineering with strong experience in CAD applications particularly SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of industrial safety standards.
SKILLS:
- Must be able to work in a team environment.
- Must possess excellent oral/written communication skills, as well as organizational and multi-tasking skills to drive multiple projects to completion.
- Ideal candidate is experienced in SolidWorks, PDM, and Microsoft products.
- Ability to review and analyze sketches and ideas and turn those into complete detail drawings.
- Ability to modify and revise existing older drawings and bring them to current drafting standards.
- Consult with engineering and fabrications representatives to review and resolve drawing issues.
- Ability to generate equipment operating manuals and technical documentation needed at the time of releasing equipment to the plants.
- General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Occasional overnight travel to include flying, driving, riding or by rail.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
