Job Description
Position Summary:
The Sales & Catering Manager is responsible for developing new accounts and maintaining excellent rapport with existing accounts. This position manages all aspects of booking groups, meeting and event functions. This includes site tours, proposals, contracts, detailing banquet event orders, floorplans, vendor communication, and communication with the banquet team for execution day of event. This would apply to all events: internal, Tribal, and group sales.
Sales Managers have an irregular schedule which varies based on event or guest needs. Sales Managers are often expected to be present at events for open and close of the event to ensure all is going according to expectation. This often means late hours and working weekends.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for redefining hospitality at Graton Resort & Casino while living, supporting, and promoting our values.
2. Partner across all departments in an effort to support the team in consistent execution of all systems & processes to deliver all services at Graton Resort & Casino standards.
3. Support Graton Resort & Casino Leadership Team in upholding all Graton Resort & Casino standards & core values while meeting or exceeding Graton Resort & Casino business objectives.
4. Foster an environment of guest service, both internally and externally, putting the guest first.
5. Ideate and execute meetings and events that exceed guest expectation.
6. Conduct daily sales calls and arranges site tours, meeting and events.
7. Provide quick and timely responses, immediate and concise communication to the departments, vendors and guest. Develop professional, long term business relationships.
8. Develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand guest base presenting sales opportunities.
9. Closely follow up on all leads within a 24-hour response time while maintaining accurate and up-to-date sales log.
10. Coordinate with the banquet team on menus, event scope and requirements for execution. Work directly with vendors, departments and guests to ensure event is executed to Graton Resort & Casino standards.
11. Build floorplans, generate and write group proposals and contracts.
12. Perform continual inspection of all areas to ensure standards. Prepare work orders for maintenance or repair of those areas as needed.
13. Provide guidance and support to vendors and departments regarding event timelines and execution while maintaining strong working relationships
14. Other job-related duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form. Must be able to communicate at a high level.
2. Three (3) years sales experience. Hospitality management experience, specifically in the catering, sales or event industry a plus.
3. Knowledgeable in various types of banquet services, hotel functions and well versed with food and beverage trends.
4. Highly organized, personable, and business minded individual with strong communication skills who can coordinate, plan, and oversee groups and their events in totality.
5. Possess a self-motivated approach for personal and professional growth.
6. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement solutions.
7. Experience with sales, hospitality platforms as well as event software.
8. Comprehend and use technical or professional language, either written or spoken to communicate at a high level.
9. Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on guest service.
10. Strong leadership and motivating skills including the ability to build strong relationships with guests, vendors & team members.
11. Polished personal presentation with warm, confident and hospitable personality.
Physical Requirements:
1. Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
2. Requires mobility and prolonged standing.
3. Requires bending and reaching from floor level to 7ft. with or without assistance.
4. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
5. Requires normal sense of smell, taste, touch and sound.
6. Requires hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate job related equipment.
