WVLT is located in beautiful Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to producing 34 hours of newscasts each week on CBS affiliate WVLT, the station takes advantage of its co-owned CW-affiliate and to expand its news audience by producing two hours of additional weekday morning news and nightly 10 p.m. newscast. At the door step of the Smoky Mountains and on the banks of the Tennessee River, Knoxville is the 61st largest television market in the country. Job Summary/Description:
WVLT is looking for an experienced, creative, and energetic storyteller, who understands the power of video, sound and images to create compelling TV. You will be part of the newsroom leadership team who works collaboratively with all photographers and multimedia journalists on their storytelling. You'll also identify engaging visual content opportunities and understand where that content best aligns with emerging product goals and our brand; encourage innovation, risk-taking, and powerful visual storytelling; be a newsroom leader and a bold voice in editorial discussions and opportunities; and help lead in the production of news, weather and sports special programming efforts.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Part of the newsroom leadership team who works collaboratively with all photographers and multimedia journalists on their storytelling.
- Ideal candidate will identify engaging visual content opportunities and understand where that content best aligns with emerging product goals and our brand.
- Person needs to be a skilled communicator and understand how to manage multiple projects and team members, so management experience is a plus.
- Encourage innovation, risk-taking and powerful visual storytelling
- Be a newsroom leader and a bold voice in editorial discussions and opportunities
- Assist and help lead in the production of news, weather and sports special programming efforts
Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 3 years working in a television or digital newsroom, or other relevant experience
- Able to handle multiple projects, and quick deadlines
- Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, Bitcentral, photojournalism, editing, and content management systems used in our newsroom
