Job Summary/Description:
We have an opening for a newsroom leader and self-starter who is ready to contribute to the nightly premiere broadcasts at WHNS Fox Carolina.. You will be leading breaking news from the field and/or desk. You will help own big stories by developing contacts and help enterprise community stories. Anchors at Fox Carolina are more than news readers.
As the Evening News Anchor you will lead a dedicated staff who wins breaking and big stories. You will help shape our content on all platforms, on air, on digital and our OTT products, working together to be accurate and relevant to our community.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Anchors the news for our 5,6 10 and 11pm shows - Delivers unscripted breaking news coverage and special event coverage to the community at large
- Writes stories, teases and other important content to contribute to the overall quality of the newscasts
- Helps evaluate leads and tips in order to develop story ideas
- Covers news in the field when necessary
- Posts stories and other content while heavily engaging with the audience on FOX Carolina’s social media channels
- Makes public appearances on behalf of the station
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Journalism or Communications preferred
- 8 years experience as a News Anchor
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment requiring strict deadlines and a focus on team orientation
- Skilled communicator, capable of speaking to a diverse audience and conveying messages effectively. Strong written communications. Creative, with the ability to provide original concepts, ideas and solutions. Strong listening skills for interviews
