Asset Management Technician - GLCAP Brimfield Office

 

Summary:  Inspect, maintain, and record data regarding water, sewer and other community assets using specialized equipment and geospatial technologies to help small utilities implement asset management.

Education:

Associate’s degree in water/wastewater operations, civil engineering, geospatial technologies or a combination or equivalent training and experience in related fields.

 

Experience:

One to three years’ experience in water or sewer utilities, utility mapping, utility locating, civil engineering technician, soil and water conservation or remediation, environmental testing, or geospatial technologies. One to three years experience working with MS Word, Excel, or Google Docs and Sheets or equivalent word processing and spreadsheet programs.

 

Additional Requirements:

  1. Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver’s license, and maintain a safe driving record.
  2. Must have insured, dependable transportation available for daily use.
  3. Must submit to state and/or federal criminal checks.
  4. Must submit to initial drug and alcohol testing.
  5. Ability to be reached by cellular phone during business hours.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  1. Operate equipment, including valve exercisers, sewer cameras, smoke testing equipment, SL-RAT, metering, and GPS equipment, to inspect and assess the condition of water and sewer utility assets.

  2. Operate and troubleshoot Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment in the field to collect the geographic coordinates and record attributes data for above ground assets.

  3. Transport, clean, and maintain water and sewer condition assessment, geospatial and ancillary computer equipment, vehicles and trailers. Procure parts, supplies and equipment maintenance services. Maintain clean and organize equipment storage spaces.

  4. Schedule equipment for field use. Maintain internal inventory lists and maintenance records.

  5. Perform digitizing and data entry using GIS software and applications.

  6. Assist in preparing inspection reports, community asset inventories and basic maps.

  7. Assist in delivering small group and on-site training for utility staff to use equipment.
