Welder Trainer – 1st Shift – Lucas
Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Mfg is seeking a Welder Trainer for our Lucas facility.
This position works Monday through Thursday, from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with overtime on Fridays, as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Train and ensure that new welders meet quality and production standards
- Follow-up on employee quality and productivity standards once they are assigned to their weld team
- Provide coaching and feedback during training program to aid with continuous improvement
- Perform production welding between training classes, as needed
- Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in welding in a manufacturing environment following completion of a recognized weld program
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and engineering symbols
- Strong computer skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred; strong written and verbal communication required
- Ability to work well with all types of personalities
- Relevant on-the-job experience training and mentoring a variety of coworkers
- Proficient in training new hires to run hand weld equipment and robot welders to plant standards
- Availability to work split-shifts on occasion to support supervisors or leads in facilitating on-the-job training
- Proficient with Great Plains Mfg welding machines and all weld processes
- Proficient in weld set-up for Great Plains and Land Pride plants strongly preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, serving as a role model in safety behavior
- Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required
