Summary
This role will work closely with the West Coast EHS Site Lead to develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS initiatives and programs aimed at reducing adverse health, safety, and environmental impacts. This role will be based out of South San Francisco and will be the primary EHS resource for that location, driving a culture of health and safety while working very closely with the SSF stakeholders.
Duties
This role will work closely with the West Coast EHS Site Lead to develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS initiatives and programs aimed at reducing adverse health, safety, and environmental impacts. This role will be based out of South San Francisco and will be the primary EHS resource for that location, driving a culture of health and safety while working very closely with the SSF stakeholders.
Duties
- Support management of permits, licenses, and reports to maintain compliance with Site Legal Register.
- Support compliance with DOT/IATA packaging and transportation requirements. Assist with hazardous waste management and shipment processes.
- Support the administration of controlled substance registrations and permits
- Assist with chemical hygiene compliance as directed by EHS Lead
- Assist with biosafety compliance as directed by EHS Lead
- Track and report biohazardous waste and disposal
- Track and report hazardous waste manifests
- Develop, implement, and maintain required EHS related programs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform routine inspections of laboratory spaces to ensure compliance with associated EHS laboratory health and safety standards
- Develop and maintain EHS signage and emergency contact lists
- Provide support for maintaining EHS Legal Register with related compliance calendar.
- Support maintenance of EHS Risk Register with annual updates.
- Assist with leading and lagging EHS Metrics tracking.
- Lead on-site lab related safety meetings and trainings.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and maintaining EHS programs including but not limited to:
- Chemical Hygiene
- Emergency Action Plan
- Bloodborne Pathogens
- Hazard Communication
- Ergonomics
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Conduct site specific EHS and lab safety training for new hires, oversee record keeping for associated trainings
- Assist with external and internal audits and regulatory inspections, assist in developing and implementing corrective actions
- Coordinate and administer annual EHS safety and compliance trainings, evacuation drills, and safety team meetings.
- Understanding of EHS and regulatory compliance concepts
- Willingness to promote health and safety in a close-knit research environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional teamwork skills
- Proficient communication, presentation, and writing skills
- Proficient technical writing and Microsoft office suite skills
- Ability to commute to South San Francisco, CA. and be on-site 5 days a week
Salary : $40 - $46
