Job Title: Structural Designer I
Department: Structural Engineering
Reports to: Managing Director/Studio Director
FLSA Status: Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Designer I reports to the Managing Director or Studio Director. The Designer I plans and conducts work requiring judgment and application of structural engineering design practices.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

- Project engineering and routine aspects of design for the entire project
- Structural engineering design involves steel, composite design, reinforced concrete, precast concrete, post-tensioned concrete, tilt-up concrete, masonry, timber, light gage framing, shallow and deep foundations.
- Produces contract documents conforming to applicable building and/or zoning codes, works with internal/external team members, checks shop drawings, conducts site visits, and assists Project Engineer or Senior Project Designer as needed.
- Performs most assignments with instructions only as to the general results expected.
- Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex design issues and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Highly organized, detail-driven, and conscientious.
- Proficient in current versions of Revit, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Excel, and other structural engineering design software.
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s or master's degree in structural engineering.
- 1-3 years of structural design experience required.
- Licensure in engineering is desired.

Work is performed in a standard office setting, onsite at client locations, and on construction/building sites.

This position requires physical mobility on and around construction sites before and after the installation of landscaping, pavement, stairs, elevators, electricity, heating, and air conditioning.
