Description
The Senior Accountant is a key role in helping to drive the organization to achieve strategic and plan objectives. Under the supervision of the Financial Controller, the Senior Accountant is responsible for the maintenance and accuracy of the Company’s general ledger and to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with US GAAP and in compliance with the company’s internal control framework.
The Senior Accountant will have the opportunity to experience all areas of the Accounting & Finance function of a growing business, with the ability to grow and advance within the department.
Requirements
- Take ownership of assigned general ledger accounts, including the accurate and timely recording of journal entries into the general ledger for the month-end financial close.
- Focused reconciliation process in key accounts such as Accrued Expenses, Prepaid Expenses, ASC 842 (Leases), Fixed Assets, Intercompany Accounting, and Intangible Assets. Support other key corporate reconciliations as requested.
- Ensure proper internal controls and US GAAP accounting by following policies and procedures.
- Assist in preparation of monthly management reports and schedules including budget vs. actual variance reports including follow-up and documentation of significant variances.
- Assist with external auditors.
- Assists in the preparation of tax returns and ensures compliance with tax regulations.
- Liaison (together with their manager) between department executives and the accounting department.
- Treasury activities – processing wire/ach payments and credit card management
- Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and system enhancements to streamline financial operations and improve efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required. MBA/CPA is a plus.
- Two to five years’ total experience in financial accounting required; preferred industry experience.
- Two to three years public accounting experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills are required
- Experience with ERP Systems. JDE is a plus.
- GAAP Experience.
- Consolidation, planning, reporting experience is preferred.
- Must be able to interface with departmental colleagues and Senior Executives as needed.
- Candidate must be a proactive, high-energy, goal-oriented self-starter and ability to “roll up your sleeves.”
