Bus Driver will drive bus or other vehicles for activities, and scheduled appointments outside the facility, including but not limited to shopping trips, and doctor’s appointments.
Duties Include
- Provide hands-on assistance to residents as they board and leave the van or bus.
- Determine travel route to assigned destination prior to having passengers board the bus.
- Report to the Director of Assisted Living any concerns or unusual behavior observed in a passenger. Report any routine or unusual maintenance concerns to the Building Service Director.
- Complete an incident report any time a passenger is injured while getting on or off the bus, in an accident, or is involved in a situation that could have resulted in an injury (such as a fall). Complete an incident report each time the bus, property or person is damaged or injured.
- Valid driver’s license and a knowledgeable understanding of Indiana law as it pertains to public transportation.
- High school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in bus or truck driving preferred.
- Ability to communicate with the written and verbal word.
- Ability to make necessary repairs in case of emergency in maintaining the vehicles.
- Special interest in driving and in the aging population.
