The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the FSQA team in maintaining and continuously improving the Food Safety system (Food Safety plans and pre-requisites), internal and third-party audit certifications, Food Safety and Quality programs, SOPs, SAP system, and environmental programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Execution of LIMS program – setting up swabs in LIMS system, tracking, environmental swabbing, entering of results including arranging various microbiological and chemical testing and follow-up on all deviations and applicable re-tests
- Conducting product shelf-life testing
- Assist in developing and revising pre-operational inspection procedures and swab sites for new/modified equipment
- Assist in developing and revising applicable SOPs and forms to ensure regulatory compliance
- Inventory and ordering of all supplies. Completing period end accruals, invoice resolution and purchasing issues.
- Assist in supervises food safety and quality activities on shift. Regularly inspect production lines to identify and resolve any quality issues.
- Ensure laboratory requirements are met
- Preparation and sampling of samples destined to outside labs
- FSQA/Food Safety Paperwork review and tracking
- Provide support to entire FSQA team with respect to maintaining an up to date Food Safety system (Food Safety Plan and Pre-requisite program) and meeting third party audit requirements.
- Work in coordination with Regulatory Affairs to assist with product launches for labeling and packaging
- Develop and implement training programs to meet compliance with government standards, HAACP guidelines and third-party audit requirements.
- Key user of the Hold and Release Program. Prepare and place/remove HOLD tags on products and materials. Complete paperwork necessary to document this process and reflect in SAP
- Responsible for employee training
- Oversight of housekeeping, pest control and Water Quality Monitoring Programs.
- Various other duties assigned
Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills
- Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
- Understanding of Sanitation, HACCP/Food Safety System, CCP/PPC’s and GMP’s
- Strong communication and computer skills including Word and Excel applications
- 1-2 years’ experience in the Food industry preferred
- Previous experience in a technical role
- Basic mathematical, statistical, problem-solving skills
- Experience with SAP and Six Sigma process improvement methodology an asset
