Reading Tutor
Greenspring Montessori School is seeking a Reading Tutor to work with students in need of extra support for the upcoming 2024-25 school year to support Montessori classrooms for elementary age students.
Greenspring Montessori School has been offering a Montessori education to students for over 60 years. Nestled on a 7-acre property that was originally a dairy farm, students ages 18 months through grade 8 thrive in our newly renovated buildings, state of the art Montessori classrooms, and rich outdoor learning environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support learning experiences in accordance with authentic Montessori philosophy and practice.
- Collaborate with and support Guides throughout the school to effectively meet the needs of students with learning differences with whom you are tutoring.
- Keep accurate and updated records on individual students’ progress for all students you are tutoring.
- Communicate with parents regularly, as needed.
- Provide follow-up activities for home and the classroom to support tutoring work.
- Join parent-Guide-specialist conferences as often as necessary.
- Tutor students independently or within a small group setting.
- Follow each student’s individualized student support plan, as a guide for tutoring sessions.
- Meet regularly with the Director of Student Support to collaborate, discuss student progress, and receive coaching.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- BA/BS Degree required
- Understanding of and commitment to Montessori Philosophy
- Understanding of how to teach basic early literacy skills
Preferred:
- One to two years of teaching or tutoring experience
- Degree in some area of meeting educational special needs preferred
- Training in Orton-Gillingham, Phonographix, or Wilson reading programs
POSITION DETAILS
This position is 10-month, part-time position totaling 10 hours per week to start. The schedule is 8:00AM - 11:30AM three days a week; flexibility on which days of the week. The Reading Tutor reports to the Director of Student Support. Time for planning, parent communications, and meetings is included in contracted working hours on campus. The hourly rate is $20-$26, commensurate with experience.
Authorization to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment at Greenspring Montessori School.
