Shipping Department
Job Summary:
Assist Production Supervisor in coordinating workflow of shipping department duties to all employees in department. Assure all department employees are following safe work procedures.
Duties:
- Production schedule coordination of special instructions to truck loaders, rim makers, and head up personnel
- Provide direction to department personnel regarding correct materials to use for required orders
- Printing and labeling of drums
- Confirm drum orders are processed in a timely manner
- Coordinate trailer movement in and out of docks for loading per production schedule
- Ensure trailer inspections/cleaning are performed prior to loading
- Ensure drum inventories are accurate, and ensure stock drums on the floor are used in a first in – first out method
- Ensure all employees are working according to safety guidelines as outlined in the Greif Safety manual and JSA procedures
Responsibilities:
- Communication is essential to smooth operation of department.
v Must communicate to department employees special customer requirements for orders
v Open discussion at all times with Production Supervisor about department activities
v Continuous dialog with other plant lead operators for proper shipment of drums
v Good communication skills with outside carriers and transportation personnel
v Communication of shift hand off information for smooth transition between shifts
- Ensure timely shipments and accurate order processing for customers
- Keep department organized
- Be trained as a back up to the Shipping Clerk position to fill in during vacation or other absence.
- Be trained on shipping area manufacturing jobs including, but not limited to: silk screen, rim forming, palletizing, head up, loading.
Knowledge required:
* Previous shipping experience required
- Truck Loading, i.e. Loading patterns, unitizing patterns, tie off of loads
- ISO quality requirements for drums and shipping of drums
- Covers and rims, different sizes and types
- JSA safety rules for shipping department
- SBP shipping system and email use
- Forklift certified (must be able to qualify within 30 days of award of the position)
Authority:
Give job assignments, access to computer SBP system, coach all personnel about safe work procedures, notify Production Supervisor of any personnel issues for his/her action.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
