About the position
Groma is looking for a Paralegal to join a team full of talent with a passion for integrity and excellence in their work. This is an opportunity to work directly with accomplished real estate and tech professionals in a fast-paced and collaborative start-up environment. This role will be primarily responsible for supporting the legal team and collaborating with acquisitions team and other departments to execute on all legal aspects of acquiring, financing, renovating, and managing property for our real estate funds.
Job Functions
- Supporting in-house counsel in drafting purchase and sale agreements and related acquisition closing documents, loan documents, and similar documents for conducting closings
- Analyzing and summarizing due diligence, including title, survey, environmental and other reports for review by in-house counsel
- Working and communicating with outside counsel for sellers, lenders and title insurance companies to ensure that projects stay on schedule
- Supporting the legal department on all projects, including real estate permitting and development, corporate, finance and employment
- Compiling transactions documents and other information and filing according to company procedures ● Assist in transaction management by tracking deadlines and outstanding matters
- This position will report directly to the Chief Legal Officer
Experience
- 3-5 years experience in transactional real estate required, with an emphasis on conveyancing and financing ● Strong skills and experience with title, due diligence, land use planning and entitlements ● Advanced skills in GSuite and/or Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with real estate closing software (such as Qualia) a plus
- Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, highly organized, possess excellent analytical skills, demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, and be able to work independently on multiple, simultaneous assignments with minimal supervision
- Must be able to work collaboratively with paralegals, lawyers, administrative assistants and clients on transactions, department projects and initiatives
- Excellent organizational and managerial skills
