Job Summary:
The Landscaping Crew Leader oversees and performs a variety of landscape activities, such as planting, weeding, digging, spreading topsoil and other materials, and seasonal lawn preparation. The Landscaping Crew Leader may also operate lawnmowers and related equipment and will assist staff on all projects as assigned.

General Landscaping – 80%
- Oversees and works with a crew of 2 – 4 employees.
- Oversees and performs planting and related activities.
- Moves materials and equipment and performs related duties to assist in landscaping and hardscaping.
- Installs hardscapes, and demolishes hardscapes.
- Oversees and digs holes and trenches and excavates for landscaping and hardscaping using picks and shovels or related equipment.
- Oversees and hauls or spreads topsoil, gravel, sand, mulch, or related materials using wheelbarrows and rakes.
- Oversees and hand-finishes grade, and applies seed, straw, or sod.
- Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Landscape Manager of needed repairs.
- Responds politely to customer inquiries and projects a professional image.
- Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the Landscape Manager
- Loads equipment and materials on and off trucks and trailers.
- Performs snow removal activities as assigned, such as shoveling, salting, etc.
- Assist Landscape Maintenance staff on projects as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
Chemical Treatments – 10%
- Applies chemicals under the direction of a licensed chemical applicator.
Special Projects – 10%
- Assist and participate in special projects as assigned.
- Assist and support the Landscape Maintenance staff on projects as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years of experience in the landscaping field.
- This position requires a high school degree or GED.
- State Driver’s License and insurable with the company’s agent.
- Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices.
- Pesticide Certification is a plus.
- Ability to operate a truck and trailer combination proficiently.
- Lift 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally lift/move more.
- Maintain the physical fitness level necessary to complete assigned tasks.
- Be able to read and write.
- Meet all applicable Federal and State mandated labor laws.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen - drivers only
- Be able to withstand strenuous work in adverse weather conditions.
