Grubhub is seeking an experienced Insights & Strategy leader with a passion for building brands and expertise applying data and analytics to deliver customer experiences and marketing campaigns that resonate deeply with consumers and drive results. This role will be responsible for research & insight mining, establishing brand positioning, developing the brand’s strategic messaging architecture and guiding full-funnel marketing campaigns to achieve relevance, differentiation and impact. This role will report to the VP, Brand Marketing.

Your strategic recommendations reflect your deep expertise with brand tracking, brand lift studies, syndicated brand data, and primary research. You thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, juggle multiple priorities with ease, and partner with various stakeholders across all levels and functions. You are a collaborative team player with the ability to think creatively as well as with a results-focused mindset. Lastly, you have a genuine interest and curiosity in consumer behavior, culture and the food/convenience delivery category.
Responsibilities:
Brand Positioning & Strategy:
- Publish/maintain Grubhub’s brand equity and marketing communications strategy and cascade across all cross-functional stakeholders and all customer-facing touchpoints
- Articulate what Grubhub stands for/what sets the brand apart in a way that is favorable, valuable, and credible for our stakeholders
- Inform development of brand identity assets, guidelines and tools to ensure that brand strategy comes through to its fullest extent
- Guide and oversee development of brand campaigns and assets based on overall strategic direction
Target Definition & Segments:
- Provide a clear and actionable target definition that is integrated across Product & Marketing
- Optimize and/or augment target segmentation to inform media strategies and campaign briefs
- Coalesce learnings from various target audience initiatives in Product, Voice-of-customer and Growth teams to generate a unified view of our target audience throughout the customer journe
- Leverage research (primary and secondary) to enhance and humanize targets
Consumer & Market Insights & Analytics:
- Keep a finger on the pulse of consumer culture to enable us to not just responding to culture but to create it
- Synthesize disparate quantitative and qualitative data into insights to power our positioning, brand planning, and target customer definition
Communications Planning & Messaging Strategy
- Architect annual marketing comms strategy and plan to achieve the brand objectives and equities, in alignment with the company strategy
- Partner with stakeholders to strategically organize and coordinate the distribution of messages to achieve objectives, including channel selection, creative rotation, and messaging integration/prioritization.
- Owns/develops the messages & claims used to reinforce the brand direction. Consults on messaging strategy for business & channel owners
Brand Health Measurement & Creative Asset Testing
- Sets the right goals and KPIs, keeping a pulse on short term business performance while monitoring progress towards long-term brand goals
- Leads brand health measurement, brand asset performance, creative testing and creative effectiveness
We're Excited About You Because You Have:
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in marketing roles, with time spent on brand planning and communications planning, preferably within an ad agency environment, including 6 years leading and managing insight and analytic professionals/teams.
- Bachelor’s degree required in related field.
- Experience guiding and influencing brand strategy, segment/audience strategy, creative development/optimization and developing marketing plans that drive brand awareness and growth.
- A background in designing, analyzing and generating insights and action from both quantitative–including continuous/ongoing tracking programs and secondary data sources, and qualitative research.
- Experience generating insights and frameworks for complex omni-channel Brand campaigns and customer experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve goals.
- The ability to direct and harness consumer segmentation to serve as the voice of the consumer to shape brand experiences.
- Hands-on experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the ability to design and execute research from the ground up. Familiarity with marketing research measurement techniques, practices, and theories.
- Advanced proficiency writing research reports, communicating results, and how to use research findings to “tell a story.”
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with custom research, survey software (ex. Qualtrics, QuestionPro), online focus groups and methodologies such as conjoint/ MaxDiff, pricing strategies, factor analysis, etc.

NY Salary Range: $167,000-$251,000
The Base Pay component of our Total Rewards package is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to: job responsibilities, location, experience and, education/certifications. In addition to the pay component, this role may be eligible for equity and benefits as part of the Total Rewards package. The Total Rewards package will be determined at the time a contingent offer is made.
