Overview
Operations Manager supervises manufacturing to meet production schedules through effective utilization of resources.
Responsibilities
- Operations Manager is ultimately responsible for personnel, cost, delivery schedules and operation within all manufacturing areas.
- Supervises three direct report Production Supervisors and 75 to 80 production employees.
- Coordinates and implements "team" concept among personnel in all manufacturing areas.
- Responsible for reviews, reprimands and requisitions for all manufacturing areas.
- Responsible for recommending required staffing, hiring, promotions, transfers, discipline, performance evaluations and implements training within all manufacturing areas.
- Maintains highest possible level of employer and employee relationships.
- Coordinates and directs the continuous improvements processes, 5S, safety and lean manufacturing techniques to achieve business goals within all manufacturing areas.
- Motivates others to identify and eliminate problems that must be corrected and encourages the flexibility necessary for the continuous improvement process to adapt to changing priorities and evolve along with the organization.
- Interprets and enforces departmental and company procedures in a fair and unbiased manner.
- Help to promote individual responsibility for safety throughout the plant.
- Solves problems involving workflow, utilization of personnel skills, machines and facility to ensure an efficient and expedient manufacturing process.
- Responsible for controlling overtime costs.
- Enforces company policies fairly and consistently.
- Establishes and enters employee’s work schedules with assistance of Production Supervisors.
- Verifies and approves employee’s timecards with assistance of Production Supervisors.
- Performs miscellaneous related duties and carries out special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- BSME or equivalent experience in manufacturing preferred.
- Certification in Six Sigma at the Green Belt level preferred.
- Five or more years of experience in manufacturing field.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
