- Perform routine molecular analysis including nucleic acid extraction, quantification and purification of DNA and RNA, and functional gene amplification with PCR and qPCR.
- Preparation of sampling kits and biological media
- Other duties may include enzyme/protein purification and characterization, and laboratory testing/experimentation in the areas of environmental microbiology, biocorrosion, anaerobic digestion, and microalgae technologies with focus on energy production.
- Assist with conceptualizing research ideas and developing proposals on relevant project areas for energy industries.
- Other duties as assigned
- Hands-on experience with Environmental Microbiology and molecular methods such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR/PCR methodologies. Knowledge of protein purification and characterization techniques is a plus.
- Ability to effectively communicate (written/verbal) with internal and external personnel.
- Ability to plan work and analyze/present data clearly.
- Excellent attention to detail, ability to follow directions, and work well independently or in a group.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a cross-functional format.
- Motivated to learn new techniques.
- Adaptive and flexible to succeed in a changing environment.
- B.S. or M.S with 0-2 years of academic or industrial lab experience
