Summary of Position
The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for overseeing, coordinating and controlling every aspect of all required fire alarm system inspections. They are required to coordinate scheduling for all required inspections. The Fire Alarm Technician is required to ensure prompt, high quality service to all of our customers. They are also expected to respond to alarms as needed.
Essential Functions
Physical presence in the office and in the field to accomplish these tasks, meet and work with others as required
Monitor and report personnel levels to the manager.
Oversee and provide support and on-the-job training to System Inspection Personnel.
Spend adequate time in the field monitoring Technician performance and customer satisfaction.
Update all jobs and actions regarding status of inspections and when permits are being completed and closed out.
Recommend and formulate policies and procedures that will increase the quality and efficiency in the System Inspections area.
Keep management informed of pertinent matters as they apply to System Inspections.
Maintain appropriate attire in compliance with the dress code and uniform policy.
Provide and maintain any and all licenses, permits and technical certifications that are or may be required by any governmental agency as part of what is necessary to fulfill the duties of this position. This shall include, but not be limited to, Public Act 217.
Develop and maintain professional relationships with all AHJ’s.
File and maintain proper paperwork including; Acceptance Inspection forms, As-built drawings and online inspection enrollments
Experience Required
Background in protective signal wiring, servicing and central operations
Knowledge of installation techniques and product restrictions also necessary
Strong understanding of central operations from a system standpoint
Education Required
Computer and automation systems education required
Hardware and software utilization and implementation
Michigan Fire Licenses
Minimum of NICET Level II certification, Level III or IV preferred
