Do you have excellent customer service skills? Do you have cash handling experience? Are you tired or working late nights and the entire weekend? This may be the position for you! Guardian Credit Union is now hiring a Member Service Representative to join our team!
We are a local not-for-profit financial institution who prides ourselves on providing superior, courteous and prompt service for our members.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under direct supervision, responsible for providing member with service on a variety of transactions. Welcomes members to the credit union and provides general information concerning credit union products and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Represents the Credit Union to the members in a friendly, positive, and professional manner. Provides prompt, efficient, confidential, and accurate service in the processing of transactions over the counter, by phone, and by mail.
- Handles all monetary transactions for members (e.g., deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, check cashing, miscellaneous receipts) and other normal inquiries by members.
- Meets all assigned goals by successfully cross-selling all products and services offered by the Credit Union.
- Responds to members' requests, problems and complaints, and/or directs them to the proper person for specific information and assistance.
- Checks approval authority at manager’s discretion.
- Accurately reconciles checks and cash drawer daily.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
- Performs miscellaneous duties, e.g., address changes, automatic transfers, and bond redemption.
- Performs daily cash advance balancing.
- Ensures that the branch is kept neat and clean on a consistent basis.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to: Successful completion of high school diploma or GED. A minimum of six months experience in cash handling and customer service.
SKILLS AND ABILITITES:
- Ability to operate routine office equipment; typing at 35 words per minute minimum.
- Must have demonstrated ability to interpret and explain Credit Union policy and transactions posted to members' accounts and to adhere to policy.
- Thorough knowledge of Credit Union services offered to membership and demonstrated ability to cross-sell/refer such services effectively.
- Interpersonal skills to represent Credit Union positively in dealing with members and teller transactions.
- Ability to exercise judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with management, supervisors, and staff.
- Must present a professional, business-like appearance and manner.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- Must be bondable.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hours; Evenings until 6pm and Saturday hours required.
- Continuous standing when providing members services (majority of workday).
