DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Guernsey is currently seeking a Community Planner with experience in land use planning and/or transportation planning to join our growing Engineering and Environmental team in Oklahoma City, OK. The ideal candidate for this position can thrive in a collaborative work environment with an interdisciplinary team of planners, environmental scientists, and engineers on a variety of planning projects ranging from comprehensive plans, parks and trails master plans, small area and corridor plans, urban design and land use planning, land use ordinance updates, and more.
General/broad duties will include:
- Developing community engagement strategies and solutions, facilitating public and stakeholder meetings, and developing public engagement materials.
- Performing planning research and documentation.
- Managing concurrent projects and successfully delivering these on time and on budget.
- Maintaining and growing core client relationships and assessing client needs with the goal of delivering tailored, cost-effective solutions.
- Preparing and participating in business development activities such as client engagement, proposal writing, and presentations.
Travel and field work will be required. Most travel is within the state of Oklahoma, with occasional travel to surrounding states as needed.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of community planning principles and practices.
- Strong research, analysis, and technical writing abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and ArcGIS.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or related field; AND three years of experience; OR Master’s Degree in related field and two years of experience; OR equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Master’s Degree is preferred. AICP certification preferred, in progress, or willingness to become certified.
Essential Physical Functions: Stand or sit – must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Walk –this position requires the ability to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. – 25% of the time. Full range of motion to walk, stoop and stand while working on worksites – 25% of the time. Use hands/fingers – must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer – 50% of the time. Talk – This position frequently communicates with internal and external customers, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations – 25% of the time. Vision – must be able to clearly focus on information located on a computer screen, paperwork, etc. – 50% of the time. Lift/Carry – must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. of site equipment when necessary.
