What You Will Do:
We are currently searching for a Biologist to independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the program. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Rockville, MD.
- Develop and optimize antibody discovery platforms, such as phage display, affinity maturation, protein evolution, functional selection by high-throughput cell sorting, etc.
- Develop and optimize methodologies for production of novel antibody-drug conjugates.
- Develop and employ cutting-edge technologies to optimize properties of antibodies, such as affinity and analyze the experimental results and organize findings into tables and figures.
- selectivity, solubility, scalability of production, and pharmacokinetic profile.
- Evaluate new technologies and instruments resulting in proposals for new screening strategies and novel formats.
- Propose, design and test assays to allow for a secondary profiling and utilization of probe candidates.
- Propose and investigate new target projects for initiation based on novelty and relevance to human health.
- Write technical and experimental reports.
- Collaborate with investigators to prepare manuscripts for publication.
- Prepare oral presentations and posters for internal and external groups and conferences.
- Provide updates to assay providers; send summaries; conduct periodical teleconferences to discuss issues and coordinate actions.
- Operate liquid dispensing systems (Aurora FRD, Kalypsys dispenser and pintool, CyBio Cybi Well, PE Evolution P3) and multimodal detectors/plate readers (Tecan Safire, PE View Lux, PE EnVision),
- Analyze the experimental results and organize them into tables and figures with Prism Plot and other data analysis/visualization software.
- Search existing literature; propose, design and test alternative assays for difficult screening targets.
- Confirm assay results and determine EC50/specificity for primary active samples; develop secondary assays for follow-up; communicate results to facilitate antibody probe development.
- Maintain and update laboratory notebooks and instruments.
What You Will Need:
- Master's degree in Biochemical Sciences or related field
- At least 3 years of experience
What Would Be Nice To Have:
- Experience working in research laboratory environment
- Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written
- Computer skills to include MS Office Suite
