What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunct EMS Instructor position at Gwinnett County?
This position will assist the department's Training Academy staff and demonstrate knowledge and techniques of current procedures in the Paramedic/EMT field. The department's paramedic program is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Essential Duties
Duties include a flexible schedule of assisting with didactic, psychomotor and clinical courses as assigned to include oversight of students during patient care practice and testing, student record-keeping, and performance of other assignments outlined by the department's Paramedic/EMT education program. Instructors must follow and enforce Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services' guidelines and practices.
Public Speaking Duties
- Presenting job-specific information to current students
- This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing.
- A public safety background check is required to include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.
The grade for this position is 97.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma, or G.E.D., (must be attached to application) and four years of related experience preferably in training and/or facilitation; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Valid Driver's License from state of residency
- Current Georgia Paramedic certification (must be attached to application)
- Current ACLS/BLS provider certification (must be attached to application)
- Must possess basic computer skills to include Word; Excel; PowerPoint; and Outlook
- Must possess excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
- Current certification as an American Heart Association Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support Instructor
- Licensed Georgia Level II EMS Instructor
- National Registry Paramedic certification
