Voigt & Schweitzer LLC is leading the steel coat industry, has over 100 years of experience in Hot
Dip Galvanizing. Currently we operate over 30 galvanizing plants in the U.S. and Europe, featuring exceptional service to small fabricators as well as larger companies known worldwide.
We have a full-time opening available for a Safety Coordinator based out of our corporate office in Columbus, Ohio that will require travel to our other facilities in nearby states.
Job description: Under the supervision of the Safety Manager, the primary responsibility of the Safety Coordinator is supporting the Company’s safety initiatives and safety loss control programs. Ensures the company continues to exceed in the industry standards of environmental and OSHA regulations.
Responsibilities:
Safety Coordinator has the following responsibilities and duties:
Clearly articulates Company’s safety vision, objectives, strategies, policies, and
procedures to support a safety culture dedicated to behaviors which lead
to best-in- class results.
Contributes to building a best-in-class safety culture by 1) anticipating problems and
providing solutions, 2) sharing knowledge with and providing training to
employee teams, 3) interacting with clients, subcontractors, and
inspectors, and 4) creating an environment of learning, mentoring, and
empowerment to promote employee engagement.
Ensures safety and health training meets the needs of internal and external (client and
regulating entities) requirements, so staff has the safety training to
safely perform tasks and jobs.
Conducts hazard assessment activities by 1) completing safety inspections, and 2)
analyzing inspection and incident data to identify opportunities to
develop preventive and corrective practices.
Reviewing and updating Safety Program
Coordinate investigations when unsafe acts or incidents occur to ensure corrective
actions are imposed to minimize ongoing risk
Requirements:
Safety Coordinator should have the following skills, education, and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Management, EHS, Engineering or equivalent related
fields.
Technical knowledge of manufacturing and construction related OSHA, MSHA, federal,
state, and local regulatory standards, 30- or 40-hour OSHA
Training
Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective
practices.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality with company and client information.
A valid driver’s license
Strong organizational skills to include Microsoft office, excel
and equivalent programs
Ability to travel to different sites, to include unscheduled travel when
needed.
