JOB SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Agent will work in the purchasing department with various requests and administrative/clerical/buying duties. The purchasing agent will complete these tasks in a fast paced, family-oriented environment which offers growth opportunities. Hours are Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM OR 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Only applicable to the Head Purchasing Agent Position (Department Lead)
DUTIES & REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
· Learning and understanding the fundamentals of our Purchasing Agent Position (forecasting and creating Purchase Orders, maintaining a Buying Calendar and purchasing assigned vendors, and checking and correcting invoices)
· Proficient with typing, numeric key data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Analytical ability and problem-solving skills
· Ability to identify and introduce best practices
· Ability to successfully use technology; personal computer, email and AS400
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
· Active listener, quick thinker and proactive problem solver
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Dependable, punctual and trustworthy
· Must have reliable transportation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· High school diploma
· Food distribution background and/or manufacturing background is preferred but not required.
