What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Technician - Seasonal position at H2OBX Waterpark?

In alignment with the vision, mission, organizational values, and under the direction of the General Manager and Vice President of Information Technology, the Information Technology Specialist provides support for all Information Technologies including Telecommunications, Ticketing, Accounting, Food & Beverage, Risk Management, Payroll, Time and Attendance software and hardware.

Specific Functions:

  • Improve existing operations used by our Company, Employees, and Guests through innovative ideas and suggestions using various technologies.
  • Maintain all support aspects of Ticketing POS, Food & Beverage POS, Accounting, Time & Attendance and Payroll systems.
  • Use daily, weekly and seasonal checklists to maintain systems and track preventative maintenance.
  • Assist in the configuration and support of LAN, VPN, Data Switches, Routers, Firewall, Data Backup/Recovery, UPS and generator.
  • Maintain PCI compliance and network security.
  • Oversee all audio/video systems and orchestrate A/V setup for events and day-to-day operations when necessary.
  • Support telecommunications hardware and software applications and programming for VOIP technologies.
  • Maintain and monitor equipment used for credit card processing gateway and overall bandwidth.
  • Manage data backup systems and recovery strategies.
  • Help maintain auto-attendant announcements and on-hold messaging schedules for everyday operations.
  • Provide internal help desk support for PC, land phone, cell phone, and software users.
  • Answer questions or resolve computer problems for staff in person, via telephone, or from remote locations.
  • Monitor network to ensure network integrity to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
  • Help support E-commerce solutions to prevent downtime and lost sales revenue.
  • Work with all departments to develop better ways IT can support business needs and assist in the development and implementation of a plan.
  • Maintain documentation of procedures, checklists, inventory and policies pertaining to LAN/WAN structures, IT usage policy, hardware and wiring diagrams.
  • Coordinate with consultants and vendors on IT projects when necessary.
  • Work in conjunction with home office IT staff to develop seamless operations for our Guests and Employees.
  • Attend conferences and training seminars to stay current on new technology and improvements.
  • Assist General Manager and/or Vice-President of IT in all other functions as required.

Job Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience working in an Information Technology occupation required.
  • Prior experience using and supporting Siriusware ticketing software preferred.
  • Prior knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, AD, MS Server software, MS Exchange and wireless technologies required.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to the challenges of IT in the resort industry required as well as willingness to stay current on new technologies that benefit our operation required.
  • Experience in Firewall, Router, VPN and VLAN configuration, virtualization using Hyper-V or VMWare required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve various hardware and software issues required.
  • Able to work independently or as a team member when necessary to complete a task required.
  • Experience in resort IT operations preferred.
  • High school diploma required. College degree or equivalent studies in Computer Science, Information Technology preferred.

Generally accountable for:

  • Complying with all Company and departmental safety standards and departmental dress code.
  • Adhering to the Customer Service Standards of H2OBX as well as all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Communicating effectively with all members of the H2OBX team.
  • Participating in the business planning process for the Waterpark.
  • Actively supporting all Company initiatives.

Work Conditions and Schedule:

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather should be expected as work will, on occasion, occur outdoors.
  • Weekend and holiday availability is required as well as flexibility with work schedule.
  • Ability to walk throughout the Waterpark for up to 8 hours per day required.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift up to 60 lbs. required.
  • During peak seasons, the schedule will require a work week schedule of over 40 hours per week, including nights and weekends.
