POSITION GOAL
Family Learning Connection (FLC) Childcare Leads are responsible for maintaining a safe and supportive childcare environment for children and families participating in the family group sessions. The position will directly oversee children, childcare assistants and any FLC volunteers associated with the childcare activities, as well as assist in group arrangements.
SCHEDULE AND WAGE
Schedule and hours vary based on FLC scheduled groups and FLC team needs. Work hours will include evenings and weekend hours. Anticipated to be 12-16 hours per month.
$17.09 per hour
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Oversee the childcare staff at the group site
- Maintain ongoing communication with FLC admin and facilitator staff during the duration of the family group series.
- Contribute to and maintain a positive welcoming, and nurturing environment at family group sessions
- Actively participate in and enhance children’s play both indoors and out.
- Establish rules and limits for behavior calmly and consistently
- Utilize non-violent positive corrective approaches to challenging behaviors. Refrain from utilizing restraints, seclusions, or any physical force as a form of discipline
- Take reasonable measures to maintain compliance of health and safety conditions for children
- Plan and implement child activities. Modify activities for age appropriateness
- Maintain reporting procedures for any notable incidents that occur at the site. Forward a copy to FLC Manager. Communicate any incidents that occur with the parents/caregivers of any children involved.
- Oversee clean up of the childcare area at the end of each session.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families as needed
- Respond to the needs of individual children (e.g. diapering, feeding, etc), including communicating with children on their level
- Check contents of First Aid Kit before the start of each session
- Work a minimum of three family group class series between September and June
- Complete group preparations as directed. Tasks may include but not limited to transporting materials, copy paperwork, put together family folders, etc.
- Practice sensitivity to serve populations’ cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
- Assist with FLC team meetings, trainings, and program preparations, as directed
- Follow policies, procedures, and compliance standards in accordance with HACAP.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Must be at least 18 year of age.
- Must have at least six (6) months of experience in working with children between the ages of birth – 8 years in a childcare home, licensed childcare facility, and/or early childhood practicum.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Valid driver's license and car insurance
- Reliable transportation for use on the job.
- Must pass criminal back ground check as required by Funding Agency.
- Must complete Mandatory Abuse Reporting Training, First Aid/CPR/AED training certification and Blood Borne Pathogen training.
