HackerOne has been leading the Hacker-Powered Security category for years. Now, Hackerone is driving its platform strategy and enterprise GTM model forward. We're looking for a highly skilled, hands-on and experienced Head of Data to drive company strategy as we enter our next stage.
This is an exciting opportunity to build our Data Management strategy and architecture from the ground up, with the purpose of creating a single source of truth (e.g. key performance indicators) that will be used to manage the business, drive efficiencies, and properly allocate capital. You would lead a team of data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists who will touch every major department at HackerOne.
This position reports to the CFO and is located remotely in the United States.

Lead the centralization of business intelligence and data engineering teams, fostering collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing among team members.
Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy. Lead, mentor, and galvanize a team of data engineers, data analysts, and data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence and continuous improvement.
Develop metrics, dashboards, and KPIs to measure performance and impact.
Design logical and physical data models that meet business requirements, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability.
Define data standards, naming conventions, and data classifications.
Evaluate and select appropriate data storage and integration technologies, considering performance, security, and cost-effectiveness.
Design and optimize data pipelines for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
Implement data profiling, validation, and cleansing processes to maintain high-quality data.
Develop strategies for metadata management, including metadata capture, storage, and retrieval to enhance data lineage and traceability.
Define and implement data security measures, including access control, encryption, and masking, to protect sensitive information.
Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or CCPA.
Monitor and analyze data usage patterns to proactively identify performance bottlenecks and recommend optimizations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, analysts, and business stakeholders, to align data architecture with business requirements.
Communicate complex technical concepts and solutions effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Who you are
7 years of experience leading diverse data teams, preferably in a scaling enterprise environment.
Proven experience in progressive data engineering, data science and/or data analytics.
Proficient in change management strategies and demonstrates the ability to thrive under pressure, ensuring effective performance in a fast-paced work environment while adapting to organizational transitions
Demonstrates the ability to collaborate effectively, maintain strong attention to detail and accuracy, and possesses exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Love of technology; actively seeks continuing education of current and emerging technologies.
Experience with building analytic solutions applicable to Sales, Finance, Product, Operations, and Marketing organizations in an enterprise.
Experience implementing operational best practices such as monitoring, alerting, metadata management.
Experience managing, measuring, improving data quality.
Experience working in an agile development environment.
Experience working with Snowflake, DBT, Gainsight, SFDC and Looker or similar.
