What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lowboy Driver position at HALIFAX PAVING?
Halifax Paving, family-owned and operated since 1955, has a proven track record of providing high-quality asphalt and site work services in the Eastern/Northern Central Florida areas. We are currently seeking an experienced Lowboy Transport Driver to join our team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Driver uses best practices to ensure proper and safe loading, unloading, securing, and transporting of heavy construction and paving equipment.
- Works with Supervisors and Dispatch to coordinate heavy equipment relocations from job site to job site and/or to the yard.
- Completes thorough load check inspections before each departure, ensuring that load is secured and truck is in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Complies with all regulatory agency and company safety directives.
- Accurately completes company documentation.
- Obeys all traffic laws and weight limits.
- Effectively operate vehicle and equipment in adverse weather conditions.
- Keeps tractor and trailer clean and in good working condition.
- Perform daily maintenance checks and reports malfunctions to supervisor and mechanics.
- Job requires manual labor including climbing, lifting, and operating tie-down chain binders.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- At least 3 years of verifiable experience transporting heavy construction equipment.
- Must have a valid Class A CDL and clean motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Must pass DOT physical and drug screen.
- Must be physically able to stand, walk, sit, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift 75 pounds.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of DOT Rules and Regulations.
- Knowledge of OSHA Standards.
- Must by willing to work overtime and occasional weekends.
