JOB SUMMARY
Operates small sized equipment including flatbed or dump trucks, liquid asphalt distributor, bucket trucks, mowing machines (riding and push mowers) and / or scooter trucks, and performs manual labor in the maintenance and / or repair of County property and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES : (All incumbents may not perform all duties.)
Operates flatbed or dump trucks to transport materials or haul brush / debris, gravel, asphalt, etc.
Operates mowing machines (including riding and push mowers to cut grass), cuts down dead trees, clears storm drains, and collects litter / trash.
Operates Liquid Asphalt Distributor, which includes patching and paving details.
Operates Bucket truck, which includes traffic signals, signs, overhanging tree limbs and trees.
Performs basic maintenance on flat bed / dump trucks, liquid asphalt distributors, bucket trucks, scooter trucks, chipper trucks and mowers including washing, changing oil, greasing, checking fluids, sharpening blades and changing flat tires.
Performs unskilled or semi-skilled labor such as patching / paving details, chipping details, bush hog details, municipal details which include collecting trash, pouring concrete, repairing potholes and / or trimming trees, shrubs and cutting right-of-way.
May perform traffic and street sign installation, inspection and maintenance; may determine sign location.
May paint new traffic signs and street markings.
May operate a scooter truck when assigned to litter control.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
Ability to read and write.
One year Laborer experience required.
Any equivalent combination of education and experience, which provides the minimum level of qualifications, stated above.
Licenses and Certifications
Commercial Driver's License or a temporary CDL and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months of employment and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, incumbents will be subject to random drug testing.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Knowledge of geography of the County including major roads and landmarks.
Knowledge of basic preventive maintenance procedures.
Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations
Skill in operating various types of small to medium equipment, such as flatbed or dump trucks, scooter trucks, mowing machines, and hand and power tools.
Ability to take and follow directions from supervisor.
Ability to perform strenuous and routine work.
