SUMMARY:
NASA SEWP is seeking a Web UI Designer to be an integral part of our team supporting the NASA SEWP Program Management Office. You will collaborate extensively with stakeholders, users, software engineers, and quality assurance testers to improve the usability and effectiveness of our current and future web applications. You will define and implement strategic user experience and business analysis approaches, obtain stakeholder buy-in, and contribute to the front-end design and development of solutions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct user-centered research and usability testing efforts on NASA SEWP web applications.
Plan and facilitate product discovery meetings, utilizing prototypes to elicit feedback from users and other stakeholders.
Design technical solutions that meet business and user needs.
Help define user interfaces, information architecture, and design process practices.
Develop and maintain team standards for HTML/JSP/JSPF, CSS, and user interface design.
Ensure that front-end web interfaces are designed with compliance to Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and other federal website requirements.
Refine project business requirements based on the above, and communicate them to software engineers to integrate designs with backend code
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required: BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field
Required: 3 years of experience designing and developing responsive, compliant solutions
Required: 1 years of experience with prototyping tools
Required: 2 years of experience using UI design tools
Required: Knowledge of front-end web development best practices
Required: Ability to prototype solutions using wire framing tools
Required: Experience with user-centered design with the ability to run cognitive walkthroughs and designed solutions, and solicit feedback on designs
Preferred: Experience with data visualization
Preferred: Agile Development experience, including the ability to write user stories and acceptance criteria based on user and stakeholder input
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
US Citizen or permanent residency, with ability to obtain a clearance of Public Trust
Must work On-site a minimum of two (2) days per week.
Must possess strong written and oral communications skills
