The purpose of this position is to assist with the design, development, and implementation of a strong system of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Collaborate with others to develop and lead professional learning opportunities for K - 12 teachers across the district. Is part of the leadership team that works collaboratively to support learning communities and ensure alignment across Hamilton County Schools.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, implementation, evaluation and ongoing improvement of district curriculum implementation to ensure alignment between Tennessee State standards, summative, interim and formative assessments, curricular resources, and professional learning for teachers and leaders.
- Complete assigned duties that align with the strategic direction, mission and vision of HCS
- Share a vision of deep conceptual understanding of content that goes beyond the teaching skill
- Collaborate with leaders to design, implement, and evaluate teacher professional development. Design and conduct ongoing and sustained professional development throughout the year
- Plan, prepare, and deliver model lessons using a variety of presentation methods
- Provide planning feedback to teachers and assist in developing supplemental instructional materials and assessments
- Use multiple forms of data to inform daily instructional decisions
- Implement research based strategies that assist with reading and writing learning goals
- Model and coach teachers on effective instructional strategies (small group instruction and differentiated instruction)
- Maintain records progress and development for schools as well as steps taken to enhance their development
- Communicate progress toward academic development goals with school leaders and C.O.
- Track academic data with fidelity in order to develop interventions and monitor their impact
- Participate in school, district and specific network professional development activities
- Report on time and perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate field; Master’s degree strongly preferred or as required by state guidelines.
- Minimum of five (5) years previous experience in school leadership such as instruction coach or teacher leader or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Must possess a valid state-issued driver’s license.
- Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, Board members, parents, and community members.
Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
