We are looking for a full time, positive and self-motivated Trade Compliance Specialist to immediately join our IT team to assist and support ongoing systems improvement efforts
Hampton Products International Corporation, located in south Orange County, CA, is a privately-owned, middle-market branded consumer products designer, developer, and marketer of innovative products in the security hardware, decorative hardware, storm and screen door hardware, and automotive accessories categories.
Under the supervision of the Corporate In-House Counsel, the Trade Compliance Specialist creates, ensures compliance with US Customs trade regulations for importing product into and exporting product out of the United States. Reviews and recommends processes, workflow and execution of international compliance as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitates all aspects of monitoring and correcting quantity discrepancies from all Hampton Products’ suppliers. This is a cross functional responsibility between Accounting, Procurement, Inbound Logistics, and Inventory Management.-
Coordinates with Customs Broker to identify and correct any over/under payments of duties and taxes that may result from quantity discrepancies and work with buyers/suppliers to maintain integrity of import documentation.

Maintains accurate and searchable records of container receiving reports, customs exam backup, supplier invoices and shipping notices, and compliment the Import Compliance Specialist in maintaining all import documentation

Assists Supply Chain Management team with transfer order adjustments.

Ensures all proper documentation with proper valuation is used when Hampton acts as Non-Resident Importer for bi-weekly shipments to Canada.

Coordinates with Canadian and US Brokers on the movement of trade show goods across international borders as temporary imports to eliminate duty liability

Establishes and maintains a centralized export records retention system.

Develops and maintains accurate and searchable export and drawback records to claim maximum refunds from the Federal Government.

Examines various documents including commercial invoices, packing list, bills of lading, to ensure compliance with federal regulations and compliance with the Duty Drawback Program

Supports and assists Hampton Products’ customers with enquiries related to California Proposition 65.

Establishes and maintains a centralized California Proposition 65 records retention of products that may contain chemicals known to the State of California to Cause Cancer or Reproductive Harm.

Reviews and approves all packaging artwork that complies with country of origin marking requirements and packaging Compliance for California Proposition 65 requirements.

Participates and assists in various internal audits led by the Sr. Trade Compliance Specialist

Assists in fulfilling the organizational goal of creating “bench strength” by learning the ins and outs of a Buyer role.

Acts as Process Leader and IT liaison for development of requirements for ERP.
The successful candidate will have the following:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and 3 to 5 years of experience in customs transactions, global supply chain (Asia, USA, Canada) and or related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, experience and understanding of US Import and Export Laws and Regulations

Highly detail oriented.

Strong Organizational skills are a must.

Current US Customs Broker license is highly desired.
