Objective: The EHS Associate provides assistance to the EHS Manager in the development of our safety operations and commodity areas such as but not limited to fire, emergency, general safety, and environmental programs policies & procedures governed by federal, state, and local guidelines, regulations and codes with special emphasis in the design of systems, processes, or equipment for control, management, or remediation of water, air, or soil quality
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Support day-to-day EHS operations and process management- Develop and maintain strong communication between all organizations within production operations
- Assist with the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS management system processes
- Assist in designing safe workspaces for employees to follow that minimize job-related hazards
- Provide support for EHS programs such as Lockout-Blockout-Tagout (LOBOTO), Hazard Communication, Emergency Response, Fall Protection, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, etc.
- Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and supporting all EHS requirements, programs, policies and procedures as necessary
- The EHS Associate position is primarily night shift must be able to work flexible shifts including swings, nights and /or weekends as business necessity. Overtime may be required at times. Emergency call-ins are also a possibility.
Compliance Tasks
Collect data on air emissions to ensure compliance with air regulations.- Performs periodic checks of safety equipment and maintains files of required documentation. Initiates and follows through on issue resolution as needed (i.e. work order submittal and completion tracking)
Other Special Tasks
The use of a respirator will be required in certain instances or tasks.- Participate in various engineering and Industrial Hygiene projects.
- Non routine packaging of large quantities (i.e. 55 gallons) of hazardous chemicals for disposal.
- May have shared responsibility for medical on-site.
Education & Experience
HS diploma or equivalent and some college is required. AS or BS degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Ergonomics, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or Safety-related discipline is preferred- Experience within a health and safety role in a private sector or regulatory environment

Work Environment/Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the EHS Associate is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
- Required to climb, balance, bend, squat, reach, grasp, and hand dexterity. The EHS Associate must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This position may work with hazardous materials where personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary and specific procedures must be followed to adhere to safety regulations.
