ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identifies production requirements and schedules deliveries according to plan.
- Heavy use of excel to manage PO maintenance, production shortages, quoting projects, and inventory.
- Communicates with internal associates as well as suppliers. A self-starter and detail oriented individual who exercises good judgment in performing duties. Reviews requisitions for accuracy.
- Ability to use MRP system and appropriate exception reports to plan purchases and control inventory.
- Consults with vendors to obtain product and service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Prepares purchase orders and RFQ’s.
- Maintains procurement records for items or services purchased that includes costs, delivery, product quality, performance, and inventory.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Approves invoices for payment when necessary. Expedites delivery of goods to users.
- Troubleshoots and communicates unexpected delays to keep the supply chain uninterrupted, maintaining constant communication with vendors.
- Involved in projects with a scope ranging from acquiring capital equipment to new product development representing the procurement sector of the business.
- Responsible for obtaining favorable purchase price variance (PPV), excess and inactive inventory reductions, inventory turns, lead-time reduction and on-time vendor performance as part of agreed upon goals and measurements each the start of each fiscal year. Other duties as may be assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s degree or up to 2 years of experience in the procurement of industrial commodities.
- Must be able to work independently and utilize decision making skills to come up with solutions and recommendations for problems that occur within supply chain.
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Utilize MS Excel, ERP system, and MS Word effectively on a daily basis.
- Communication skills to convey current status of procured parts to the shop floor as well as to management.
- Ability to work well within a team
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret business reports such as quotes, market analysis, technical reports and other forms of communication from the supplier
