What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Tutor - Per Diem position at Harbor Brand?
Harbor is currently seeking a Youth Tutor to provide tutoring and case management services to assist clients to increase basic skills.
Position is contingent, and candidate must be available to meet for the after school programs immediately after school by 2:45PM.
Requirements:
- Two years teaching/training experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree with teaching/training experience preferred.
- Must be proficient and accurate in computer use, including Microsoft Word.
Job Duties:
- Provides tutoring services to clients referred by agencies such as BVR, DJFS, etc.
- Analyzes client educational strengths and weaknesses breaks down basic skills and GED test into teachable steps.
- Utilizes effective tutoring techniques to assist clients to increase basic skills.
- May provide case management services on preparing for the impact education will have on their lives.
- May provide job development and Job Seeking Skills Training services.
- Completes all required documentation timely and accurately.
- Types documentation in the format appropriate and acceptable to Harbor.
- In providing billable services, fulfills or exceeds unit expectations established by Harbor.
- Maintains good communication with vocational department and referral sources.
- Maintains current and valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and complies with Harbor’s transportation policy and procedures.
- Actively engages with clients and monitors activity.
- May provide additional supervision of clients in support of site coordinator during program hours and while transporting clients home.
- Provides curriculum to clients that promotes learning.
- May attend regularly scheduled meetings with site coordinator to establish curriculum and address matters of programming.
- May act as a Summer Youth Job Coach during the summer months.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record to perform transportation duties associated with this position.
