What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Labor Railcar Cleaner position at Harbor Rail Services?
JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Laborer is to perform all railcar repair support work (cleaning, debris removal, rough demolition) to accomplish expediting the repair work needed. This work is accomplished through the use of brooms, shovels, breaker bars and may include; hand tools, cutting torches, welding equipment and yard equipment. Work is of a physical nature and involves kneeling, bending, and stooping.

Opening doors and closing doors as needed If any defects are found in the process of opening or closing any door you are to report this to your supervisor. Inspect interior for heavy debris and report to your supervisor Sweep and remove all debris from interior of the boxcar If there is a residue of powder you are to report this to your supervisor Wash out boxcars as needed Lubricate cars as needed. Operate forklift to assist in repairing of freight cars and cleaning. Stock and store freight car material. General housekeeping. Perform other duties as assigned.
